Most businesses talk about community. The Chiropractic Place in Montrose actually grew up in one. For more than four decades, Dr. Brian Miller has been adjusting spines, building relationships, and watching his patients’ children grow up – some of whom are now bringing their own kids in. That’s not a marketing line. It’s just what happens when you stay in one place long enough and do good work.
How It Started
Dr. Brian Miller is a Los Angeles native. He didn’t move here from somewhere else to set up a practice. He built one from the ground up in the community he already knew, on Honolulu Avenue in Montrose, and then stayed.
What followed was a career that most chiropractors only read about. Over 40,000 patients. A preceptor faculty role at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, where he trained the next generation of doctors. More than 2,000 hours of post-graduate continuing education – far beyond what’s required. A published book, WELLNESSOLOGY, outlining his philosophy of foundational health. Features on The Learning Channel. Work as an on-set doctor for films and music videos.
And somewhere in between all of that, he raised a son who would eventually walk through the same door with a chiropractic degree of his own.
Dr. Brian’s Philosophy: Treat the Patient, Not the Disease
If you’ve spent any time with Dr. Brian Miller, you’ve probably heard some version of this idea. He doesn’t think about conditions in isolation. He thinks about the person in front of him – their history, their habits, their nervous system, the way their body has adapted to stress over time.
That perspective comes from decades of clinical experience across an extraordinary range of patients. Dr. Brian has provided chiropractic care for professional athletes on NFL, MLB, and NBA rosters. He’s worked with musicians on tour – from classic rock legends to full orchestras. He’s treated families across the Crescenta Valley who’ve trusted him through pregnancies, childhood sports injuries, and the wear that comes with getting older.
What ties all of those experiences together is a commitment to understanding root causes rather than chasing symptoms. It’s a philosophy that takes longer to explain but produces better long-term outcomes for patients.
Enter Dr. Riley
Dr. Riley Miller grew up around chiropractic care in a way most people don’t. His father’s practice wasn’t just a job – it was part of daily life. He watched patient relationships form and deepen over years. He understood, before he ever set foot in chiropractic school, that this was work that required patience, precision, and genuine investment in the people you were treating.
After graduating with honors from Life University in Atlanta, Georgia – one of the leading chiropractic programs in the country – Dr. Riley came home to the LA foothills and joined the practice his father built. He brought with him advanced training in nervous system and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certification in golf biomechanics, and a perspective shaped by growing up in the community he now serves.
He’s a St. Francis High School alumnus. He plays golf weekly at local courses. He knows the area, the people, and the kind of active lifestyle that many Crescenta Valley residents are trying to protect.
What the Father-Son Dynamic Means for Patients
Having two doctors in the practice isn’t just about capacity. It’s about continuity and complementary strengths.
Dr. Brian brings 40+ years of clinical pattern recognition. He’s seen conditions that most chiropractors encounter only rarely. His certifications in pediatric chiropractic (FICPA) and wellness protocols (CCWP) reflect decades of specialized focus on family care. His experience working with elite athletes and performers gives him a depth of understanding about how the body performs under stress that applies far beyond sports.
Dr. Riley brings the perspective of someone trained in the most current evidence-based techniques, combined with a TPI certification that makes him one of the few chiropractors in the area genuinely qualified to assess golf-related movement patterns and biomechanical limitations. His approach to athletic performance care is structured, systematic, and informed by his own experience as a competitive golfer.
Together, they cover a range that most single-doctor practices simply can’t. And because they work together daily, patients benefit from two sets of clinical eyes on complex or long-standing cases.
A Practice Built on Relationships, Not Transactions
One of the reviews on The Chiropractic Place’s Google profile describes a moment that captures what the practice is really about. A patient came in for an X-ray, concerned about a trapped nerve. Dr. Brian and Dr. Riley found something far more serious – evidence of advanced cancer in the spine. Dr. Riley personally drove her to the emergency room and stayed with her. They checked on her in the days that followed. They refused payment for their time.
That’s not a standard patient interaction. That’s what happens when a practice is genuinely invested in the people it serves rather than the volume of appointments it processes.
In 40 years, thousands of patient relationships have been built inside this practice. Some patients have been coming in for decades. Others are the children of patients Dr. Brian first treated in the 1980s. That kind of continuity doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because patients feel seen, heard, and cared for in a way that keeps them coming back – and sending their families.
